Deck building research
With the proper knowledge anyone can build a deck. Thanks to the internet you can teach yourself just about anything. This is the source I used and I believe it to be the best in existence for Deck Building:
I stumbled on to "Best Deck Site" when I was looking around the internet for ideas of how I would like my deck to look. I never imagined that I would end up building the deck myself. I didn't know the first thing about decks or how they were built, all I knew is that I wanted one on my new house. Not only did this site have a lot of photos of decks it also had a plethora of information about building one. After about 15 minutes of browsing the site I decided to become a member (for under $15 for a year) to unlock all the information available there. After quickly learning the basics I knew almost immediately that the only way my deck was going to get done right and be acceptable was if I did it myself. "Best Deck Site" is designed to teach you how to build a deck from scratch with or without prior knowledge!
So, I dove in and read the entire site. It wasn't too long before I felt like I had the knowledge of a seasoned 20 year deck builder without every having actually built one. Talk about confidence!! I took this knowledge and ran with it. I started drawing up plans right away and had the entire project in my head before picking up a single tool.
